There have been a lot of riders proposed which include minimum use of bright lights and converting the area into a silent zone but the expert committee constituted to review the draft of the eco-sensitive zone around the Okhla Bird Sanctuary is understood to have approved the broad parameters to define the extent of the eco zone around the sanctuary.
It is reported that the committee which was chaired by the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) Hem Kumar Pande and attended by representatives of the governments of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh has given its stamp of approval to a limit that extends to 100 metres on the east, west and south sides of the sanctuary while it will stretch out to 1.27 kilometres on the northern side.
“It does seem as if some progress has been made on the matter”, says Bibek Kumar, a home owner who along with other NCR home buyers had met the Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar last week to discuss this issue. “In my opinion, if the expert committee has approved the limits of the eco zone then the official notification should come out very soon consistent with our discussions with the Minister”.

There are understood to have been an array of riders proposed by the expert committee which include less use of glass in the buildings close to the park perimeter to minimise reflection and a strict no-honking policy to be implemented within the sanctuary.
It is also reported that the expert committee has recommended the formation of monitoring committees by the UP and Delhi governments to be headed by the Principal Secretary MoEF with the chief wildlife wardens of both states also serving on the monitoring committee as member secretaries.
