Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority's 5000 residential flats receive green certificates, possession in March

GREATER NOIDA: Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority's 5000 residential flats have received a 'green' certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The group housing units located in sector 22D of the YEIDA area-for middle and low income groups-boast green features and will be available for possession to home buyers in March 2016 this year.
According to officials, the multi-storey flats launched through two different schemes in 2013-14. "They are environment-friendly affordable homes," said Arun Vir Singh, CEO, YEIDA. "These homes will promote health, conserve natural resources, provide easy access to services and save residents hundreds of rupees a year in energy costs," he said.
Singh said that the multi-stories flats fulfill the green norms set by IGBC. The multi-storied flats boast green features that include heat solar reflective roof paint for reflecting the solar radiation back to the atmosphere, rain water harvesting system, low flow water fixtures installed to conserve water, sewage treatment plant to recycle the waste water and rated pumps and motors installed to conserve energy.

Electrical charging facility for electrical vehicles, drip irrigation systems, use of recycle material for civil works, more than 75% area with daylight streaming into flats low VOC paints and more than 80% area of flats for ventilation. "Additional features include use of quality single glazing unit glass having better thermal properties, provision for organic waste composter for converting food waste into manure, smoking free common areas," Singh said.
Singh further said that the concept of green housing was adopted as buildings and associated development have an enormous impact on the environment. Designed to catch maximum sunlight and ventilation, 30% of total site area has been reserved as landscaped green spaces. ""Also, the scheme for affordable homes was designed in a way to cater to all sections of society. Plots size of flats is 30 sq m each," the YEIDA CEO said.
